Solid book

I watched from the sidelines as Chris did his whole '21 day book' experiment. To be honest I thought he was going to fail magnificently. Honestly, who writes and publishes a book in 21 days? Apparently, Chris does. When this book came out I decided to buy it and make sure there was no voodoo involved. Surprisingly, there was none. No magic bullets either.

Chris provides solid advice about how to launch a book successfully. The difference between him and most book marketing 'gurus' is that he tested his own advice (and has lots of witnesses) before deciding to share it.

The guide isn't long but it has many gems within it including;

- The 21 Day Experiment - what he did right and what he did wrong (so you can avoid the same pitfalls.

- How to figure out what tier you're currently at and how to move into the next

- How Amazon algorithms work

- How to create your own launch plan and build buzz for your book

- How to launch your book

- How to put your book on autopilot after the launch so that it keeps selling and adding subscribers to your mailing list without too much heavy-lifting.

There's a whole lot more. The advice he gives is not overly technical. Also, it isn't reserved for people who already have an extensive mailing list. Anyone can use it - whether you're still at zero or about to touch the sky.

You can write what you love and still have a market-tuned book

Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2016

Likely one of the best books you'll read on writing specifically to market and sell your work.

What I love is the approach—far from urging you to 'sell out' and write books in the latest hot genre, or coaxing you into writing to the current fads of fiction, Fox gives you carte blanche to write the sort of book you actually love, but to research it and tailor it to a specific (and eager) market.

If your goal is to be a full-time author, to actually be paid for your work, and to have a long and healthy career, this book belongs in your library. Read it twice a year.

Tips from a pro that have honestly helped me. I get every book Chris fox puts out and will continue to do so as an Indie Author myself. The man knows his stuff. Some people hate on him but he has a system that works and he is upfront and says if you are in it for the art etc. this book/information is not for you. But if you want to make money as an Indie Author all his books are worth a read as they each contain solid advice!

Perfect if you're looking to make a nice chunk of change from self-publishing

I bought this book after finding Chris' AMA on Reddit, now that I'm finally serious about becoming a romance writer. I read it in a couple hours, not doing the exercises. Those take much more effort and largely determines how much you can reap from this book.

This book is the kind of practical, easy to digest help that any new writer reads - especially if you can already write, like I do. (I'm a copywriter by profession, so I'm no stranger to cranking out thousands of words per day.) Basically, this book gave me the science I needed to make my first step into self-publishing as successful as it can be for a first attempt. Also, Chris touches on a lot of the mindset that's needed to grow as a writer in the fast-paced self publishing world. I definitely recommend.

I hope to update this review with my results after putting Chris' advice to good use!

First why, then how, then you have to do.

Chris Fox explains simply and pleasantly how to do all of this. It's not rocket science, after all.

But it is hard work.

He reminds us to do our homework. He shows us the difference between going with Option A and Option B. But then there's the homework and exercises.

Just a tip: if you read this book and don't do any of the exercises, it's like watching a basketball game and not taking a shot yourself.

Do yourself a favor and read this excellent book, do the homework, and let Chris know how things have improved. That's what I'm doing and it's working well already.

An ESSENTIAL tool that belongs in the toolbox of every pro or aspiring pro novelist.

I received an ARC copy of this book. As you can see, this is also a verified review. Why buy a copy too? Because the book is worth it.

The author has done a fabulous job of laying out in detail and order the methods for launching a book to success, and then to building on that success to have bigger and better launches with each new book.

Now, many other writers have talked in detail about one particular aspect of marketing. They might focus on Twitter for writers, or reader magnets, or something similar. Other writers have given a broad overview, intentionally leaving out specifics because the industry changes so quickly that specifics might not be as useful years from now, and they want the book to still sell years later.

Chris Fox has given both the overview - and also specific, actionable, detailed plans for helping to build your launches. It's a blueprint, not promising immediate success for your next book. But rather his methods will help you improve with every launch, building and progressing as you go.

This book is an *essential* tool. It belongs in the toolbox for every modern professional novelist.

Simple Suggestions for Successful Sales

Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2017

This isn't a cheat-sheet on exactly what you should do to be successful. It's an introduction to the process of how to become successful yourself. Quick, simple instructions on how to grow as an independent author. Put another way, it's not a walkthrough, but a guidebook. Here are some things you'll need to do. Here are some suggestions on how best to go about doing them. Not a cookbook with exact recipes, but a culinary guide with descriptions of characteristics of ingredients.

Chris Fox explains the launch process in simple, easy to understand language. He makes short, impactful chapters with the key ideas of each memorably explained.

Then he gives you exercises to do alongside the reading so that you can better learn and understand the processes by testing them and putting them into practice as you're thinking about them.

There are a lot of important ideas explained in simple, understandable language. It's worth every moment you'll spend reading it.

Define "Easy," but it makes sense.

Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2018

Like all of Chris Fox's books, it's short and to the point, and each chapter ends with one or more exercises to practice the techniques in your own efforts. His methodology makes sense (at least in the current market situation), and I know it has been used successfully by several authors. So... it meets or exceeds expectations. For its low price, that is easily worth five stars from me.

My only issue is... "easy?" Define easy? (Although he addresses this in the book as well).

I'm not the most savvy person, but I'm a trier. Despite that, I've become a good writer with no sales from my novels. It's a deadly cycle, not knowing how to make it - because once you self-publish your life depends on it.

At the moment my wallet is wilted, so let's do an experiment - I've bought all of Chris Foxes other books - they are amazing so please get them.

I know what readers want, and can type like a speed demon and craft good work - my freelance work proves that lol. With knowing the marketing aspects, maybe I can finally make any kind of living and live a little happier ever after?

I'll keep you all updated and follow these steps exactly - because of it can work for me it will work for anyone and save you a lot of grief.

Thank you Chris for your honest advice from what can be an industry that doesn't give a blueprint of itself for any chance of success.
