Today’s interview for the Millionaire Secrets podcast, "Covert ROI Founder Earning 7 Figures+ Converting FB Ads Into Leads", is with David Schloss.

David is the owner of Convert ROI, a digital ads management company. David started out in the paid ads space way back in 2007 and now manages over $30 million dollars per year in ad spend.

His agency makes in the region of $3-$3.5 million dollars in annual revenue.

Not bad for what started as a side gig for David in college.

This is an interesting interview because David has been there since the very beginning on the social ads platforms like Facebook.

He was there back in the good ‘ole days when it was a gold rush on Faceook and super-easy to make a fortune.

For the record, I am not affiliated with the author, I was not paid by the author to give a review, nor was I incentivized to do so. I just think that this is a book that everyone who makes money online (which is virtually everyone at this point) should pay attention to.

In digital marketing, it is incredibly to waste time on activities that do not help the business. These activities are nice, they are fun, but they don't help the bottom line of a business. The only question you should be asking is "are we getting more traffic/leads/sales now than we were X amount of time ago?" If the answer is "no", The Results Obsession is for you. In the book, Karen Marchietti cuts through all the clutter and offers tried and tested conversion optimization frameworks for all channels.

If you're ready to stop playing games and get serious about your marketing and how you show up online, you need to get this book. I can't recommend it highly enough.

There is a lot more meat in it than people may be expecting, which is refreshing. Too often books over-promise and under-deliver. The Results Obsession delivers. The concepts are relevant and actionable.

Disclosure: I worked with author Karen Marchetti at a large California financial firm and at a direct marketing firm. She had insights that generated results across a wide range of industries and product lines. Karen didn’t ask me to read or review her book. I wanted to, and I’m glad I did. She was a great marketer then, is even better now.

If you're not obsessing over results, you're not in marketing

Karen Marchetti is a master of Direct Marketing, and I’ve known that for decades. In her new book, Results Obsession, she shows how marketers must be obsessed about getting results. I couldn’t agree more. She helps the want-to-be digital marketer find the path to getting results. She is direct about her approach that it’s not so simple, and there are many pitfalls to success. I’ve been a faculty member for marketing at five universities and held the role of owner of an ad agency for 27 years, with clients in many different industries, so I know a lot about marketing, especially digital marketing. It’s always changing due to the nature of the environment, and it is critical to stay ahead of the market conditions. Reading and adopting the principles in this book can help you maintain the leadership and dominance in your area of expertise.

Marchetti gives enough detail to support the beginner, plus also reinforces the advanced marketer that they are on the right track with what they are doing. She packs a lot into these pages, and readers will find it a valued resource, hopefully for many years. Marchetti is concise in her descriptions and directions, which I can really appreciate. She gives the insights, such as: The Secret is a Customer Point of View (p. 358) She does not pad the book with extra added content. There is no extra fluff. This book will teach marketers about the key ideas regarding creating digital traffic, leads, sales and ultimately, lifetime value.

Through the application of these principles, readers can learn how to sell with words and create effective sales content. Once they can identify the pain point, then they can find the solution, with sizzle, credible research, testimonials and the close. Here’s an example of a tip for creating SEO for the website: “Don’t put the name of your site in the Page Title.” Marchetti explains (page 244) that if you include this in the page title, you may be diluting your value of the other words, thus making the overall title too long. Setting up a monthly budget (p 340-3) is a very useful and practical how to, which many companies never finish setting up. These points are clear and easy to follow.

I’ve read hundreds of great marketing books over the years, and this is one that I will be happy to suggest for the beginning and advanced brand marketer who wants to stay in business, not just for this year, but for many years to come. If you don’t obsess over this, you’re not really in marketing.
