Taylor Armstrong Jeff Lerner Review

Meet Taylor Armstrong. She went from feeling like an imposter who didn’t deserve success. To finally find her true purpose through ENTRE. While creating a new income stream has been great. Taylor believes her true reward is that ENTRE has given her REAL life skills, transformed her aspirations and is the guiding compass for the life she leads everyday!

Today’s guest on the Millionaire Secrets podcast is an inspiration! Nicholas Bayerle is living proof that no one is defined by their circumstances, past, or the things around them.

I think most successful people can pinpoint the moment that they decided to change their lives forever; it’s that magic lightbulb moment.

I still remember mine today, and I bet if you’re reading this and you’ve already had yours - you’re thinking about it right now!

It’s great that it stays with you because it’s a constant reminder that your life and success are always in your own hands.

Nicholas is someone who knows that feeling. Today, he is a hugely successful entrepreneur, author, and creator of the Billion Dollar Brotherhood - a business that brings powerful entrepreneurs together to help each other achieve more than they ever could alone.

I relate so much to relate Nicholas on a personal level.

We’ve been on a similar journey on the road to success, and just like me, he used to be broke, overweight, and depressed.

It’s safe to say we’ve both come a long way since then!

But once you’ve been in that dark place, you never want to go back.

And you work every day to make sure that you don’t have to.

For Nicholas, the challenges came early. His childhood was far from perfect; when he was 4 years old, his parents broke up, and three years later, they hated each other.

Being around that kind of toxic relationship as a kid is seriously tough.

At just 7 years old, he wrote his first suicide letter. He felt like HE was the problem.

By the time he was 12, he had started to spiral, failing in the three key areas he has built a successful business on today: health, wealth, and relationships.

He has worked with hundreds and hundreds of entrepreneurs over the last five years and discovered that these three areas are the keys to a happy and fulfilled life.

Today, Nicolas’s passion and focus are to redefine what it means to succeed by helping entrepreneurs discover their purpose, rise up, and live life on their own terms.

Listen to his story and learn how you can redefine your own journey.

HTML and CSS: Design and Build Websites 1st Edition

#1 Best Seller in CSS Programming

An all-color guide to the fundamentals of HTML and CSS from the creators of Wrox!

Everyday increasing numbers of people would like to learn HTML or CSS. In addition to the professionals in web design and programming are new users who have to master a few lines of code in their work (update an online content management system, or even an e-commerce store) as well as those who wish to make their websites more appealing. There are many books that teach HTML as well as CSS are dull and designed for people who wish to become programmers. That is the reason this book uses an entirely different method of teaching.

  • The book introduces HTML as well as CSS in a manner that allows them to be used by anyone--students, hobbyists, and professionals. The book is full-color throughout.

  • Uses photographs of lifestyle and information graphics to help explain the subjects in an easy way that is entertaining

  • The book has an unique structure that allows you to move through sections from the beginning until the end or to just delve into topics that interest you at your own pace

This book of educational value is one that you'll love studying, picking up and later referring to. The book will leave you wanting that other technical subjects were explained in such an easy entertaining, appealing, and attractive manner!

The publication is available a part of an entire set of hardcover books - Web Design using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery ISBN: 1119038634; in softcover Web Design using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery ISBN1118907443.

Love the book but needs an update

Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2018

I absolutely loved this book, so well-written and and such a nice print. I have decent amount of experience with other programming/scripting languages but I was a complete beginner in web development with zero knowledge of html and css. This book was an excellent start for learning both.

The only small issue is that it was written when html5 was under development and although it covers many of the html5 features, the core of the book is not html5, especially with extensively covering subjects like flash videos. That is why an update would help a lot.

Having said all that, if I want to recommend a book for html and css, it would be definitely 100% this book. You can build your base knowledge with this and it does a great job at that, and later you will be able to extend your knowledge with many other available ways.

Excellent book for any skill-level, but essential for all beginners! [UPDATE,2019]

Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2017

Verified Purchase

Excellent book for any skill-level, but essential to all beginners! The content is laid out in a very fun fashionable way that will hold the reader's interest. The content is clear, concise and well-ordered. I once believed that once you've seen one HTML+CSS book, you've seen them all, but this one is truly one of a kind. The paper quality and design is bar-none a graphical artist's dream.

HOWEVER...

The build quality. Upon first time cracking this book open, you will feel how stiff and sensitive the binding is. I am very afraid to press down on the spine to get the book to lay down more flat to make reading words closer to inside the page simple. Judging by other reviewers, my fear is truly founded. But for now, all is intact. Will update if there are any changes to this current event...

[update, 2019]

Rather late, but this is something that I feel is worth mention & may help others:

My copy is still intact (paperback) with no loose pages. Same goes for my hardback copy of the JS/SQ companion text. Both have been well-used during my autodidactic journey. The style-system Duckett has created here is what sets this text series apart from all other books I've read and own.

I still recommend this book, however, there is no such thing as "the perfect technical book." I feel there are a few crucial lessons missing from this text: a chapter on media queries (mobile-first approach) and a decent overview of a couple CSS frameworks. While Duckett does introduce the ability to control min- and max- widths, and he offers a section on liquid layouts, mobile-first responsive pages are, more or less, the standard of today. This is not a complaint, whatsoever, but just something I felt it lacked and could use in a later edition, perhaps.

STILL A 5-STAR RECOMMENDATION IN AUG. 2019!

New to the subject

I was very nervous about taking a class in this stuff, because I am brand new to the subject, and I don't learn new things very easily. My college professor's lectures are nothing but jargon and nonsense, and I am lucky to get anything out of them. This book, however, explains everything in such a simple, organized way that I am able to use everything in it immediately.

I am halfway through the book, and am only just starting the CSS portion. I don't anticipate the second half being any more difficult than the first, as it is the style of writing and the organization of the material which has been most helpful, and the author's approach does not appear to change in the second half of the book. Each tag has its own page, for the most part. Some similar tags will be two to a page. On each page of the HTML chapters, the HTML is written as you would see/write it in your source editor like Notepad++, and below the photo of the source editor screen is a picture of how it would look in a web browser. The descriptions are written along the side.

The very first chapter shows you exactly how to make a basic web page, and then shows you how to display it in your browser, which makes you feel like you've accomplished something right from the start. I would recommend this book to a beginner. I really appreciate this author's style.

I am teaching myself Front-End Web Development and this book is one that has helped ALOT to understand some of the HTML and CSS principles better. I only have about 3 months of experience and have the ability to build a static webpage and currently working towards making dynamic ones hopefully by the end of the year or next. If you are a beginner then I would suggest this book. I got it in yesterday and already have read through 7 chapters of the book taking notes and applying everything I am learning. Not to mention that the book is extremely easy to read with diagrams and examples compared to other books I have seen where it is plain text on a page with an example.

There was soooo much new stuff in this book that I didn't find on youtube tutorials. Trust me...if you want to start web designing carrier here is the base that you should step on. The writer had put so much effort on it. It is colorful and detailed. For me the best thing was there was NO JUNK on it. Straight to the point. No zigzag and crapy stuff. This is how all books should be made. Thank you Jon. And please write some more on advanced levels. jQuery, Java-Script, github, Backbone Js, Angular JS, Unit testing....all you can cover. And please stick to the easyness and straight to the point. God bless

READ THIS FOR HONEST REVIEW

I got this book a few days ago, I like it! I have no reason to give anything below 5 stars. I am satisfied with it for a few reasons which I’ll list here.

To the people buying this book READ THIS!

This book requires no previous knowledge to understand it. Though it’s worth noting that it goes a bit fast on some pages. If you have a terrible memory and need tons of examples on 1 thing, I’d go with the head first guide to HTML CSS & XHTML. That book goes over everything at a LOT slower pace. I read that book before this one and I still found things I didn’t know about HTML and CSS. I have been programming for a few months now and I’ve learned a ton of helpful things from this book that I never knew before, which is cool. The book had 50-star quality! I bought my book new due to the complaints of people getting broken books. The new book option is worth it if you are a person that hates even the slightest dent in your book. If you don’t care about the condition and only want the knowledge then used is good too.

The book is easy to read with examples that are labeled clearly. They give you a start code and an end code, both showing the start and end of the code and page to see where your at. Good colors in my opinion! Very informative and REALLY good for the price from what I’ve seen! So yeah, I‘ve enjoyed the book so far and I’m on page 200 or so. I just bought the JavaScript version of this book it’s coming tomorrow! 5 stars. Good for beginners. It goes over the most important stuff plus extra, you’ll definitely be able to write a few lines of code after reading and have a good understanding of the language.

This review is for the softcover. The content of the book is excellent, 5★'s. The book itself, should I call it the hardware, is a piece of trash. I hadn't reached pg. 100 when it started falling apart. And as I read on, more and more chunks of it fell out. I'm at pg. 200 now and the book's in many sections; some sections consist of 30 page chunks and 10 page chunks and other sections are just a few pages clinging together. In an online response to complaints by other purchasers of this book, the publisher, Wiley apologized and assured us the next printing would be done by a differenl printer; whereas I'm happy for future buyers of this book, that doesn't help me. I feel that Wiley should have offered some kind of compensation. I would advise paying a few dollars more and getting the hardbound edition (hopefully the problem doesn't exist there.)

I am a lot like reviewer JH. I also bought "CSS Secrets" by Verou at same time it was far too advanced for me. This book by Duckett probably could help an actual Newbie non-coder, but it would be a tough slog. I have been hacking raw html with vi for 15 years to support my academic website. I am a linux geek and have enjoyed coding to support my science since the 1970s, but I am not a professional programmer; I have to do a little bit of everything. I really was not clear what CSS was, but I suspected I needed it as my website was needlessly ugly an unwieldy. In a weekend this book allowed me to remove all sorts of redundant inline styles from my code (that being all I knew about.), and I expect things to be much prettier soon! The book pointed out the 960.css website, and that alone was worth the purchase price.

This book truly helped me understand the fundamentals of websites significantly better than from when I initially got into building websites. It gave me the confidence to provide professional website building services to the public, and an edge over those who may be barely getting into the process.

Jon does an excellent job with providing easy writing and aesthetically pleasing visuals, breaking down practically everything there is to HTML & CSS on a step-by-step basis. This has quickly became my #1 book on the shelf to refer to when I'm stuck on a website build, or seeking to further improve on my knowledge with it. It's such a thorough read that I've always found something new to learn about and add onto my arsenal.

The money I've invested on purchasing this book has easily flipped over for me in my first service sales.

Thank You Jon for producing such a great book!

This book, and its brother, JavaScript&JQuery, very well written, with detailed explanations of the authors' thinking of how to use the code to accomplish a programming goal. It uses organization, color, and emphasis to achieve the goals of teaching HTML and CSS. I am half-way through (HTML first, then CSS). There are plenty of clearly coded examples, as well as the source code for the examples in the book online. After working through courses in Swift, Python and C++, I wanted to study web design and management. I think I am getting well versed in the coding necessary to do that (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery).

Terrific basic book on HTML and CSS

Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2017

Like the other Duckett book on Jquery, this book is a pleasure to read. Most technical books take some intestinal fortitude to slog through the boring parts, and reflect the geeky mentality of their authors. This book is actually pleasant -- what makes it unusual is the production quality -it has beautiful type-setting, has a liberal use of color, and the writing is clear. Of course, there is a problem with a book like this -- it lacks some of the comprehensiveness of more densely written tomes. Nevertheless, I am very pleased to have such a pleasant way to go over the basics. Sure, everything is available through google, but this book is a lot easier to deal with than a blog.

I bought the hard-cover binding version, after reading reviews saying that the paperback falls apart. The hard-cover is fine, although a bit heavy. This is not the kind of book you bring with you to read at a boring outdoor activity. It is just too heavy.

My son who is a beginning coder in HS, needed this book for his html class. I am an experienced coder, but not in html, which also makes me a beginner. Each of us with different levels of skill, were able to pick up this book and without any prior html experience write a rather sophisticated website. We created a floating menu navigation bar, search bar, background graphics, cool fonts, drop down box with calendar feature for appointments, click to email links, links to other pages and sites to name a few. Its easy to understand, the information is indexed well and easy to locate your specific topic, and the quality of the book is very nice. Good value for the price, too.

The HTML Book I Keep Going Back To

Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2015

Verified Purchase

This is one of my favorite step by step computer guides. If you know absolutely nothing about HTML, you can work through this book and within the first few chapters begin programming. Learning HTML is like learning a very simple foreign language, there are really not that many "words." The clear and easy to follow text is abundantly illustrated and very orderly. Individual commands are given a separate page each with specific examples and excellent graphics.

About 2/3 the way through the book the authors begin your studies with CSS. Since CSS is such a vital part of the web programming these days I sort of wish these chapters would have been moved further forward in the book. I was looking to get the HTML and CSS experience more or less simultaneously, so as soon as I was comfortable with the basics of HTML I skipped ahead to the CSS chapters and worked backwards.

I've had so many books on computer software and programming that it is impossible to keep them all. This is one of the few that I not only kept but keep going back to.

Not much to learn if you’ve already been practicing html/css for a month...I think it took me two days to get to through the book.

Are you planning on reading this book as a pass-time recreationally or because you're enrolled in school? If you're enrolled in school and are looking at purchasing this book, it's probably because it's required and in that case my review is nothing more than a rant (however the book comes in good condition, satisfies the instructor's desire to have you spend money on a book that you probably won't use in class or on homework anyway). And if you're planning on reading this book recreationally.....I don't think I'm qualified to give you advice on how to get your life together.

The book contains a lot of visuals as it introduces you to new concepts and code samples. You'll find this very helpful, especially since we're covering HTML and CSS.

The author has also provided you with the HTML and CSS code for all of the examples provided, so you can pull them up and edit them to see how each line of code affects the page.

As with many textbooks, it's more important that you complete the book and learn from it, rather than completing it for the sake of completing it. One thing I've done to ensure that I understand the concepts in the book is to use the code samples provided as a guide, but create my own HTML and CSS to illustrate the various concepts that are being covered. In other words, I mirror the author's examples with my own demonstration of them. Finally, when you get to the end of each chapter, the author gives you a sample that covers all the items reviewed in the chapter. What I would do is create each of these samples from scratch. Doesn't have to be an exact match (i.e. colors, margins can be different), but being able to duplicate the final page helps you retain what you learn.

I got this book based upon others' reviews, and I was pleasantly surprised. I've been messing around with another book (on and off) for a year, and constantly found myself stuck without an answer from the book as I helplessly flipped back and forth trying to find a good answer.

This book is different. It's clearly written, with lots of good examples, and best of all, each chapter ends with example code of what you've just learned with an explanation of what everything does. The author seems to anticipate questions, and answers them.

I kind of imagine a friendly, competent programmer sitting behind his desk saying, "Here, take up a chair, and I'll teach you how to code."

Not only does he share his expertise in HTML and CSS, but he also sprinkles in lots of helpful advice on things like design or resources that you can turn to for help.

The layout of the book is beautiful, almost magazine like. Initially I was skeptical because I thought it would be all flash and no substance, but I was wrong. This book does it all!

After seeing all the positive reviews for this book I decided to give it a try instead and could not be happier. The layout makes sense and the chapters gradually build on the skills you learned in the last section so you always understand why each new bit of code you are leaning is important and where it fits in the overall design of the page.

An excellent beginner or refresher book in HTML & CSS. I would recommend it to anyone.

Bought these because an online class was recommending it. This and the Javascript companion are pretty good and expect to use them for a long time...since I did get both spiral bound at a Big Box office store locally for about $7-8.

Stop reading reviews and make yourself happy by buying this book!

I just got this book today and I am amazed. Since I started reading from the introduction, I have not stopped. This book is so beautiful, it's hard not to keep going. The colors used, image format, and the layout really make this book easy to want to move on. I call this out so much because if you have tried other tech books, you know they lack imagery. Instead they offer dull, white pages, with tons of information. This book is appealing, and has information that is worth reading. All of the pointless theory and filling is left out and that makes me even happier. The other books cost around $60 and they just fail so bad in enjoyability, while this one can be bought for ~$20 and it's like flipping through your favorite magazine. Buy this book!

I knew a little bit of HTML going into this book, the basics. I'm taking HTML 1 in college and I wish I would have gotten this right when the semester started! It goes in depth and explains everything clearly! I didn't need a text book for the class, we just watch videos. But I feel like not everyone can learn from videos. I love that I can just go into the index and see what codes I want. With the videos they have us watch, I have to re-watch all the videos just for one small problem I'm having. I cannot praise this book enough. I also bought the book "web development for beginners" it barely touches the surface. That one is good if you slowly want to get into HTML. This one however is good for a real in depth look at HTML and CSS. This book is worth it for the money.

Great book for beginners looking to get into web development

Great book for beginners looking to get into web development. It teaches all of the very basic components that you need to get started in building a website. Easily explained with pictures and diagrams on nearly every page to help visualize what's going on. Some pages even have you go to a site to help you get the code that Jon Duckett uses as well. Would highly recommend for beginners. Those that are advanced in HTML and CSS might not benefit as much as someone who is just getting started as the book covers only the basics and a little more.

THE Best HTML and CSS Book

I shopped HTML & CSS books for HOURS before landing on this one. I read COUNTLESS reviews, I scanned through pages, I looked at publication dates, I checked out author bios and this is the one I chose and I'm glad I did. It's phenomenal. The entire book has a custom design, like no other I've ever seen. It lays out the content in incredibly easy to read fashion, and it even carries a consistent style/layout for each page type page type. The design of the book itself speaks of the wisdom and deep kno understanding the author / publisher's knowledge of HTML / CSS (the basic languages of web design).

There is incredible information in here and its easy to read. It provides clarifying differences (like div vs span elements) and gets you excited about HTML and CSS.

A fabulous book!

I recently had a project given to me at work of maintaining a website, which is in straight HTML. I haven't used straight HTML in 14 years, and needed a refresher fast. The reviews on this book were right on. Not only is it the initial refresher I needed, but the aesthetics of the book are incredible. This is quite a feat to achieve, and very few pull it off like this. The result is a book that is a sheer delight to devour. Not only does Jon give you the precise info you need in a book that is a work of art in itself. I had to write my name in the front as I don't ever want this book going anywhere but my desk! I have been reading it from page 1, am halfway through, but am also flipping to specific sections I need again and again in the parts I have read, as I settle myself back into the world of straight HTML. I can't thank the author enough for putting together such a beautiful and useful book.

I bought this book to get ahead for a web design class for school that I'll be taking soon. I'm about a third of the way in and I'm very happy with my purchase. You cant fake all of these 5 star reviews, this book is very well laid out and a pleasure to read. One piece of advice that I will give any potential buyers: buy the HARDCOVER version. It is solid and obviously built with quality in mind, and looks stunning sitting on my desk. It is worth the extra 15 dollars for the more durable version, especially because this book will need to be digested in more than one sitting.

What a great book. It has taken me into coding an HTML website far faster than I could have imagined possible. It is superbly written. The layout is stellar. It makes it easy to go back and find a previous bit of code.

Could not give it a better recommendation. Sure, I'm sure everything in this book is available for free online but I really believe this is worth the twenty dollars. I will probably have this book long after I have coded my first elementary website.

At this point in my life, I don't know how I will apply my knowledge of HMTL and CSS coding. I am sure, however, that I will apply it. I am very happy that I decided to buy this book.

Awesome guide for a beginner

When I first mentioned to a computer scientist friend that I bought a book to learn HTML, his response was "why would you use a book?" The fact of the matter is that while the material of any non-fiction piece can be found via the internet, the knowledge of HTML is particularly accessible; as of my writing this a Google search of "HTML tutorial" generated over 300 million hits. With websites devoted to the subject like w3schools.com and htmldog.com why should you buy a book? This is the most general question to answer.

The benefit of this book is that it is very well written, organized, and easy to follow; this is where a book can do better than the internet. That begin said, this book is truly for beginners - it assumes you know nothing about HTML or mark-up language structure. The book is divided into two halves: one html (structure) and the other CSS (formatting). The first chapter is devoted to basic text pages. Then the following chapters describe the basic elements of which most web pages are composed: lists, links, images, and tables. The second half covers how to make these elements pretty. There are two major benefits from this book in terms of content. First, there are many little external references that can help you find what you need; for example, [...] is listed as one way to crop pictures (granted I usually do this in iphoto). Secondly, while the text does not teach you everything, it gives you an idea what to Google to learn more. The text gives you a broad overview of the main topics and once you understand the buzzwords you can dig deeper.

One aspect of website design is to make something look good. This book looks really good. All of the diagrams are extremely clear and ample whitespace is used to create a nice flow. At the beginning, Mr. Duckett outlines the color-coding he will use for each type of page (i.e. title, summary, etc..) to help guide the reader. The choices make the pages stand out even when the only feature of the page type is a background color. He also spends time in some of the chapters discussing artistic features such as contrast and why to use png versus jpg format for images. These additions add a useful aspect to a book that really could just be about coding. I also think style is extremely important to keep in mind when making a website.

Overall I think this book is a good starting point if you want to make a website with little to no knowledge of coding languages. It is extremely well organized and clear. Furthermore, I used to as a starting point for my own website. However, I can see how someone would instead use the free resources available online. I have frequently consulted these myself for more detail.

Wonderful reference book for HTML!

I am an intermediate level web developer. This book is written differently from every other HTML book. When searching for the best method to display content this book gives you each of the various types of controls along with each option available and always accompanied with examples. I have referred to this book more than any other because it is so simply laid out and very complete. The downloadable reference code is extremely helpful when trying to work with examples. This is a book that as you develop more skills will constantly refer back to because it is so complete. It is extremely helpful to have each part of the examples color coded just like what you would have in your HTML editor.

Really well presented introduction to HTML and CSS

This is an excellent manual on HTML and CSS for the newcomer to the field. The presentation of the material is very logical and easy to follow. The graphics are excellent and the examples are very useful and well laid out. There are a number of cross-reference within the text that assist with the learning process. In addition to the general index (which is quite good -- an important feature) there are several other indices based on Troubleshooting issues, HTML elements, HTML attributes and CSS properties. I think that the nature of HTML and CSS lends itself perfectly to this type of presentation, and it is extremely well done. After just a couple of days of skimming through much of the material, I set down at the PC with this book and put together a pretty effective looking webpage: including text layout and effects, colors, graphics, boxes, borders -- I was really pleased with the results.
