Today’s interview for the Millionaire Secrets podcast is probably one of the most intimate and raw that I’ve ever recorded.

In fact, I’d say it’s second only to the podcast I did with my loving wife.

Rachel Luna is today’s guest. Rachel is an international speaker, bestselling author, confidence & mindset coach, former US marine, and highly successful entrepreneur.

But more important than any of that…

Rachel is a cancer survivor.

This interview is an emotional one for me. My mom is currently going through cancer treatment. And, several years ago, my wife’s parents both died from this horrible disease.

I’m sure everyone reading this has been touched by cancer in some way or another.

So hearing Rachel’s story,

And how she beat cancer her own way, is so powerful.

There's more...

Rachel is one of us. She’s an entrepreneur. A self-made success story in the online business world.

I think that’s why this interview is so important for all of us to hear.

Rachel concedes that the stressful, all-in, anxiety-driven, hustle 24/7 lifestyle that she lived in order to create her entrepreneurial success…

...probably also contributed a great deal to the cancer within her.

The best affluent networking book I've seen!

I first became aware of Stevens after reading his landmark study, "The Millionaire Next Door" The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy by Thomas J. Stanley, PdD and William D. Danko, PhD - First Edition, 1st Edition - Printing 1998 . As an insurance agent wanting to gravitate toward affluent clients, I was interested in Stevens' approach. After talking with a number of development directors of charities, they agreed that his approach to fund raising is a winner! It also fleshed out the advice I had been given, to approach affluent prospects through their "influencers"; CPAs and attorneys. The entire series, Networking, Marketing, and Selling to the Affluent, reflects Stevens' research and depth of knowledge of the affluent client. If there's a better book out there, I haven't seen it yet!

Do you offer services that require CEO's approval? Read me!

The audience of this book is not the lazy person. This audiobook will make you work very hard for very little, in the beginning. Treat the time spent implementing these 8 techniques as an investment with a compounding return of investment rate of infinity.

Let me tell you something, I've read a few other books on personal network building, and this one is by far the best on the subject. This is absolutely not about the concept of MLM (multi-level marketing), which is a topic I choose to avoid.

If you would like to buy this book and learn to become a millionaire and think like a wealthy person, this is probably not the best one. I recommend Robert Kiyosaki's books for that purpose. He will in turn recommend The Millionaire Next door, which is how I stumbled upon this book. "Networking With Millionaires" is written for consultants and it is all about working with your top clients and building extremely profitable relationships with previously impossible to reach clients. Spend $0 on advertising and achieve infinite returns on your investment.

If you are already a great salesperson, you will still gain a lot of insight to help you breach that elusive barrier of the CXO executive offices.

I have never heard this much useful information on a subject that so little is truly written on in such a short period of time. I knew a lot of the information presented herein already, but there was quite a bit of new knowledge and inspiration that gave me a lot of ideas I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

If you are looking for a gift for someone who is a successful self-employed professional, they will be in debt forever to you if you buy them this CD as a gift.

This audiobook is highly recommended by me as a representative of its intended target audience.

How to Network Your Way to the Top

Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2005

Networking with Millionaires is the audio version of Stanley's book "Networking with the Affluent." It is not a "word for word" audio book, but rather a partially scripted interview with Stanley where he covers the same points with same stories he uses in the book.

The basic concept is that successful sales professionals build referral business by offering services beyond their core product(s). Stanley offers some new and creative ways of using the principle of "going the extra mile" for building a network of affluent and influential people who have the ability to help you if they are so inclined. Even though there are some helpful specific suggestions of how to connect with your target group(s), what is most important is having a mindset that thinks outside the box.

One aspect of the recording that I particularly appreciated was providing specific reference materials that can help you learn more about how to identify concentrations of wealth. For example, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, and some directories of trade associations. These references go by very quickly in the recording, so you may need to look at a copy of the book to identify them all. These reference materials are rather obscure, so I doubt I would have ever heard of them had I not listened to/read "Networking with Millionaires."

One reviewer made a valid point that it appears that Stanley is suggesting that we completely rely on the benevolence of the decision makers. While it is true that he does not discuss the downside in the book, I think it is important to use some common sense. There is a risk that you won't directly receive any benefit from helping others. You have to be judicious and not go crazy. There are clues you can look for to identify takers rather than givers. There will be times when you do not appear to receive any specific benefit from the help you provide. If you come across an obvious "taker," simply cut your losses as quickly as possible and move on. The benefits of Stanley's approach FAR outweigh this possible downside. Stanley's objective was to outline a workable approach, so I don't fault him for not including information on the downside. His materials are for professional people who should be able fill in that gap on their own.

Great information

Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2001

A very interesting slant on giving great customer service. The essential idea in Networking with Millionaires is to provide more than your core product; to go above and beyond the call of duty. Dr Stanley provides a number of examples of this and a number of different approaches to try.

True many examples are similar & that almost gained this CD a 4 star review from me... but then I thought of the value of the information, the fact that I will encourage everyone of my staff in every type of business to listen to this and the fact that I have learnt enough to cover the meagre cost of this CD many times over.

And, after all repetition is the mother of mastery! It is always great to hear stories of success and inspiration, this CD combines these with approaches that will work in any country and industry - truly global advice.

True, it's a little simple in places and the sound bites of various role plays are very cheesy, but overall I cannot give this less than 5 stars - the information is just too valuable.

Enjoy it... but most of all, take action with what you learn & USE IT!

I'm a Stanley fan.. loved the "next door" books and learned much.

I heard this title through Audible.com.. half the price for the full unabridged interview. I highly recommend audible.com for many other reasons, but this title makes it worth a trial membership.

The true measure of lasting value for me is how often I refer to it in coaching conversations. I've listened to it multiple times, and believe it's responsible for a paradigm shift in how I look at networking and selling.

If you intend to sell or market to anyone, especaily anyone with enough money or activity to be hard to reach, you MUST get this!

Everyone wants to do business with successful people. Learning howto approach them, how they think and how to work with them is key in realizing that pursuit. This was a great window into how successful people operate, what is important to them and what it takes to engage them in business.

In The Millionaire Next Door, Tom Stanely identified the millionaires in the vicinity of you. In the Millionaire Mind, You were told how they think. Then, he explains how to grow their attention.

NETWORKING WITH MILLIONAIRES

The market segment for the wealthy is expanding by sevenfolds faster than people living in households. Dollar for dollar, the most effective method of penitrating the market for those who are wealthy is to connect to its clients, advisers and the most important members of their significant affinity groups.

DR. STANLEY IMPARTS HIS EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE BY EXAMPLE:

  • Learn to get the attention of business owners who are wealthy as customers and never ever engage in sales calls

  • Learn how the most successful marketers create business through the use of eight major networking concepts.
