"Turn your passion into a business…"

It's a phrase that's thrown around a lot these days, but what does that actually mean? How is that actually possible? What does it look like?

To truly believe something is possible, you have to see someone in real life doing it day by day, so you can connect the dots in your own mind and believe it’s possible.

That someone today is Theora Moench, the CEO of Truly Chosen!

Theora took her passion and deep interest in relationships and communication and turned it into a hugely successful business where she helps entrepreneurs find, create, and keep epic love.

Our conversation took a really interesting turn.

We discussed how she built her business out of her passion, and then went on to talk more generally about the dynamics of communication and relationships inside and outside of business.

It's fair to say, over the next weeks and months our relationships in every single area of our lives are going to get put under the magnifying glass and tested to the max...

So, it was great to hear from someone like Theora, who can give a fresh new insight and perspective to move forward successfully with!

I joined Entre Institute a few days ago. I met with my advisor and he sent me here. This is awesome content. I have to say, Entre Institute is not the type of company that you sign up for a product and then get abandoned, they don't "take your money and run." Your company has a great support system that comes with an assigned advisor who really cares, guides, holds you accountable and encourages you on your journey to success. I have to admit, at first, I was reluctant to join but "Thank God" I did. This has been the best business decision that I have ever made.

If you were only going to get one book on "business" as church leader - this is it.

I just finished reading Fulfilled, and as the pastor of a medium sized church - this was a fantastic way for me to review the "business" side of ministry. Whether you are a pastor restarting a church, you are new on the scene or just feeling like you're stuck in your leadership - this will help you get clarity on WHAT you need to tackle.

This book is easy to read, but is a great mixture of learned insights and great references to other resources. Fulfilled gives you enough to think about, but doesn't answer every single question you might have. As a pastor/shepherd, you can't just put your head in the sand and try to recruit experts to come and run everything for you - you must at least have minimum competency in each of the six areas & have a clear vision. This book will point you in the right direction so that you can begin growing as a well rounded leader, not a business expert, just a leader who will not be "surprised" or disappointed if finance, culture or momentum shift and don't know how to diagnose what might be missing. As people who have served at all levels of ministry - Michael and Kathryn aren't writing this book specifically for pastors, but their biblical worldview guides all of what they write.

If you were only going to get one book on "business" as church leader - this is it.

A book that gives you the WHY and the HOW when it comes to running your business.

Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2020

Finally! A book on business that is compelling AND practical. Michael and Kathryn clearly know what it takes to run a business that is successful and enjoyable. In Fulfilled they not only tell you WHY that is important, they tell you HOW to do it!

If you’re like me, you read a lot of books on business, and find many books that are inspirational but don’t offer a lot of practical applications. Or, you find a great strategy with little psychology or reasoning behind it. With Fulfilled you get both. The Redmans spend time in “the clouds” to keep you motivated and inspired, and then jump down into “the dirt” to give you a roadmap on how to apply these ideas in your business.

In addition, this book is comprehensive, covering everything a business leader, entrepreneur, manager or even someone with a side-hustle would need to know to build a business from the ground up. I recommend a lot of books to friends, colleagues, and family that all serve specific purposes. If I could only recommend ONE book to anyone that is running a business—it would be Fulfilled. It ticks all the boxes.

It's like a "mini MBA" in entrepreneurship

The best way for me to describe Fulfilled that it is like a "mini MBA" in entrepreneurship with guidance from mentors who have not only survived but thrived through their business journey. I applaud their holistic approach in helping small business owners to focus on having at least a baseline understanding and knowledge of the key areas of operating a business.

Heart-felt wisdom that's good for the entrepreneur's soul (Stellar as an audiobook, too!)

Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2020

I'm a young entrepreneur with a team, who is beginning to scale, and I found this book to be helpful, inspiring, and good for the soul.

I'd been feeling like maybe I was doing everything wrong because I kept running up against daunting challenges in my business as we've grown. What I've realized, in coming to know the stories of entrepreneurs who have been building their business for many years now, is that these exact challenges are normal and that there is a way forward. I particularly found value in their discussion of how building a business and building a life goes hand-in-hand, if you want to experience the feeling of true, sustainable success. Passion and provision can exist at the same time, and I now have a vision for both.

I listened to the AUDIOBOOK, and the co-authors did a phenomenal job telling their own stories and keeping the pace moving. I highly recommend the audio version!

A Blueprint for Success for Entrepreneurs & Business Owners

Starting a business is hard, growing one is even harder. The Redmans take an approach that is both inspirational and practical and leverages their many years of hands-on experience. It’s a how-to manual without the constricting prescriptives, but it is more importantly a why-to exhortation that delves into the need-to-be-articulated passions that drive entrepreneurs to create businesses. Fulfilled covers six key areas ranging from the thought-provoking strategic to the immediately actionable: Vision, Leadership, Management, Marketing, Money, and Culture. Soaring in the 50,000 foot range brings much needed perspective to the business owner battling in the trenches and encourages the formation of guiding principles. Swooping down to the 5,000 foot level insures that key business functions are recognized and the appropriate skills mastered. Presented in a warm and engaging style with many thoughtful anecdotes, Fulfilled offers solid footing for the new venture, as well as a path back to renewed vigor for the more mature business. Recognizing the eco-system nature of well-run businesses, the Redmans further encourage business leadership through their HaBO Village organization and the wealth of free resources they make available. All in all, a very enjoyable and worthwhile read!

Use your social distancing downtime to do something productive!

Downloaded on a lark, and it is one of the best reads I have had this year. A brisk, active, and engaging writing style with this husband and wife team taking turns narrating, challenging the reader, and providing both motivational support and edgy and practical advice across the full range of organizational management. Built around the ideas of “passion” and “provision,” the central thesis is that your organization or business will only thrive and last if you have a love for and understanding of what you are doing, and if you are financially successful at the same time. You don’t get one without the other. I know its audience is most likely business folks and organizational managers and leaders, but I thought that their guidance, advice and wisdom (and there is a lot of all three here—much of it grounded in the authors’ own experiences of hard knocks and false starts) provided great insight into relationship development and goal setting in lots of different parts of life. Less dense than the top selling corporate oriented motivational and advice books of the past two decades, this one is going to be appealing to a younger generation of small business owners, those searching for inspiration in starting out, and particularly future leaders who want to balance their lives and make a difference beyond just profits and their personal bottom line. The chapters on Vision and Leadership were inspirational and sketched out in broad terms; the later chapters on Management, Marketing, Money, and Culture were more brass-tacks and provided wonderful practical advice on being effective, positive, and successful. At the end of the day, this book sells three ideas: Think intentionally about who you are and where you want to go; recognize that you won’t get there without the skill and love of collaboration and a successful team; and remember that business or organizational success can be one of the greatest rewards that this culture permits (though getting the tools right is your problem). Fun and engaging examples; footnotes with great links to further materials; and helpful tools that you can access from the book’s website will get you started on your passion in the first hour of reading. This book will make a great gift for your thirty-something dreamer or your older sister-in-law who need a fresh start in their life paths coming out of the Covid debacle. Recommended without qualification!

This leadership book won’t disappoint!

This is the first book on running a business that I have seen, that brings together the key components of running a successful business so well. Their holistic paradigm helps leaders easily assess where their organizational strengths and weaknesses are. Then how to acquire the practical “working knowledge” to prevent a leader’s deficiencies from adversely affecting their organization. Additionally, it’s very clear throughout the book, that the two authors care deeply about people, and I believe that this is the genesis of their motivation to lead a healthy and successful organization.

I've known the Redman's for many years and watched as they have grown their business to be very successful, like they say not without many learning curves along the way. I liked the concept of providing your employees with not only a paycheck but providing a place that stokes your employees passions! Their model provides this environment and attracts great employees who love coming to work and giving their all! Great job Redman's!! Thanks for not giving up and leaving your legacy for us all to follow!

It isn't just business for the Redmans

There's so much in Fulfilled that I appreciate--the Redmans' Passion and Provision Strategy and their thoroughness in demonstrating how vision shapes leadership, management & operations, marketing & sales, money, and culture. For just these reasons, you could call it the summary that every entrepreneur needs. But I particularly loved this: "It isn't just business for us. It's our life's work...." This is the secret sauce that makes this book something special.

Michael and Kathryn have captured the core essence of a healthy business by sharing their real life experiences of lessons learned along the way. A very wonderful, relatable and practical book of knowledge for all new to business by providing the means of implementation to make your dreams reality, to thrive and sustain with purpose. Like building a house, start with a strong foundation, then build the load-bearing walls, then the roof to protect you. But most of all ultimately making the house into a home - the real testimony of Passion & Provision!
