I’m a lifelong introvert and software developer. I’ve struggled in the past working with difficult people. This book helped me disassociate with certain narratives I’ve been telling myself for years (e.g. “my way is correct” or “so and so is detrimental to our team”). The mental gymnastics I’ve been playing for years has only succeeded on causing me suffering. Kudos to the author for his advice to “try to spend an entire week without complaining and see what happens” because “we become what we think about all day long”

I've read many of Thibaut Meurisse's books, but this one is probably my favorite. I think that too many people fail to understand their own emotions and how they motivate them through life. The world would certainly be a better place if we all had a better understanding of what is actually driving us forward in life, and why. We should question why we desire the things we do, and if acquiring them actually benefits us in any real and positive way. This book breaks down the human ego and emotions in an easy to understand fashion, blending psychology and philosophy with steps you can take to improve your life, starting today. Read it, it'll make you a better person. And isn't that what we all came here for?

I originally purchased the Kindle version however, after I got about a third of the way through the book, I returned to order a paperback copy to keep. I love this book! Thibaut Meurisse isn't just helping me with some troubling thought-emotional connections but also helped me understand in a very easy to grasp way what having attachments actually means and why it is not healthy. (Attachment isn't love, it is identifying with a thought for example that then causes you to become attached to it through identifying. Making it personal and trying to analyze it.) I am so thankful I found this book and its author! 🙏💗🕉️ Namaste!

I love purchasing self help/improvement books so much that at times, I feel that they can be repetitive ,so I start skimming through the book and before I know it- I’ve read “most”of the book. Master Your Emotions was a book that I chose based on amazon reviews and , without a doubt, I loved it and read from cover to cover The author reviews emotions that can hold us back and how we can improve. It was exactly what I was looking for in this period of my life and I hope to purchase another book to give as a gift. I will surely look into the books that were referenced in the book and purchase other books that were written by the author. Thank you Thibaut Meurisse!

One of the best self help books I have ever read!

The author writes clearly without the “ Mumbo jumbo” of some other books I have read. He gives straightforward reasons why we do what we do, and ways of controlling our negativity. You will learn more from this book than a Psych 101 in college!

Well written in an easy to read style. Also, I found it very informative. The chapter on the ego was interesting and different in this type of book. So was,the chapter on how Dopamine affects the brain was good. How emotions are formed and letting them go are also covered. Informative and enjoyable.

A great book about 'blacks & whites' of our emotions. Techniques and ways to handle them constructively. Well written, very structured. A fantastic overwiew of the subject, that is too often presented in a complicated way in the psychology literature. A guide how to live a better, fuller life.

Fastest I've ever read a book - for good reason.

This is the fastest I read a book in my life. I was feeling down and out last night, read 73 pages and felt great, then read the rest the next day. Yes - it is a good book.
I have the tendency to go through jealousy when trying to date (or even dating) someone. I go through jealousy often just looking at the lives of others (despite being usually more successful and probably happier than most). I also beat myself up over small things and constantly repeat negative thoughts. I think this book will help me, and these are just small examples.
I think it is important to look at the message here too. The book is not telling you to be a narcissistic person. The author is telling you to focus on the positives about yourself and control what you can control, and to accept what you cannot. For example, if someone doesn't like you (whether it be romantically or not) can you control what they feel? Not so much. You can control the version of yourself that you are, and you can focus on the positives about yourself instead and not get stuck in a negative loop.
This book made me feel better at the end of the day and I am glad I read it.

Busy with Book Content—No Time for Negative Emotions!

Thank you for writing this book! I’ve been so busy with the accompanying “Master Your Emotions Workbook”; I’ve had no time to stay in negative emotions. This has been a great purchase for me. If you are struggling with ANYTHING, read this book. There is a lot of information here, but go at your own pace and please be patient with yourself.
I just finished the book and I’ve implemented one of the many exercises I want to do. The author calls it a “Self-Esteem Jar.”
You are to write down everything you’ve accomplished on separate pieces of paper and put it in jar. It can be a fancy jar and fancy paper—if you like. (I found one at my local dollar store). It can be small or large tasks.
I’ve been doing this for a few days and realized that I actually get a lot of things done. I’ve been way too hard on myself; causing frustration; causing anger; making my own self sad. Then I get on Amazon and download books that I don’t read and get even more sad!!!
Give this book a try. I believe you’ll find something in it—that will help you greatly; I did!

I spent DECADES in traditional therapy trying to make sense of my emotions. Because of where I live, I've had literally dozens of therapists. They all just leave. I'm in the middle of nowhere, so they tend to snap up any job that will get them a ticket out of here ASAP. I've had trouble making progress because of this. All therapists have different styles, and different quirks, and they all take a bit of getting used to before one can really get to the heart of solving his emotional struggles. This book, and the accompanying workbook, bring a consistency that I'm not used to when it comes to sorting through my emotions. It will always be there to remind me of the things I need to do to deal with my emotions in a healthy way. It won't leave the state in search of a higher paying gig in some city somewhere. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who's been through several professional therapists and gotten very close to real results, but didn't quite make it to the finish line. The author is truly passionate about his message and really does want you to learn to love and forgive yourself. The suggested guided meditation for gratitude was supremely helpful. Thank you, Thibaut Meurisse, for writing this wonderful guide. I'm going to read the Master Your Motivation book next!

I loved this book and I’m actually reading it for the second time.
Struggling with depression, this helps you realize that your emotions are only as strong as you make them, come from the meaning you give them, and how you interpret a situation. (I myself am pessimistic and I’m trying to work on that)
As much as I like hearing about experiments and case studies, this was refreshing in that it was just everyday talk. Simple. It doesn’t need scientific evidence to be effective.
Relatively short which makes it easy to remember key points

There are quite a few people I would purchase this book for. It's because a lot of us are stuck in our heads and think what are thoughts are is how we feel. Well, that's not it. Get rid of auto pilot mode, be more aware and positive in life in general.
This book gives you the grounds to understand how your mind works and tricks and tips to keep it running at a healthier performance.
I was so pleased with it, I emailed the author and thanked him personally for being a hero to my mental health.
This is also good for those who suffer with depression, anxiety, worrying, and those who feel like they argue too much or get angry too often about big or small things.
It's help me tremendously <- that word isn't big enough for how I really think about this book.

I just finished this book about three days ago (4/30/20), and my mind has been largely impacted from reading this piece of art. The book teaches you many techniques and strategies on how to control yourself when you are in a emotional state that overcomes rationality. The book also includes the fact that none of us should be ashamed of how we feel, and that it is only a temporary moment that must be acknowledged and confronted in order to remove this type of negaitivity; however if it was the other way around, dealing with positivity, then this book teaches and tells you that you must praise and embrace optimism in order to keep having more good things happen along the way. So far, my favorite quote in the book was about the concept of accepting the past and have full focus of the present, "What happened in the past was supposed to happen. Because it happen."

The Most Important Book I Have Ever Read!

This is one of the most valuable books I have ever read and owned. Definitely a keeper, and one to go back and re-read time and time again. I began reading the book in its entirety, then downloaded the workbook and got to the real work of personal development. The book is well-written, easy to read, and contains all the treasures I wished I'd had in my earlier years, and I'm thrilled now that I can make up for lost time. Thanks, Thibaut. This book made my quality of life improve just by reading it. I plan on reading it over and over again while I fill out the workbook. This is an excellent read for literally ANYone and EVERYone. There wasn’t a single thing I disliked about it because it applies to all parts of life no matter who you are. If you’re looking for help and don’t know how to get it or what help you need, this book will be able to help you realize so much about how you can do it yourself, EASILY. Emotions are what run us as human beings, but we weren’t really taught how to utilize, think, or interact with them. This book shows you how! Thank you, Thibaut!

I loved this book! Master Your Emotions changed my life! It’s helped every aspect of my life, because I’ve learned how to stop my negative thoughts.
The book explains how negative thoughts are like a magnet. They attract “more negative thoughts, and by latching onto these thoughts you make the situation worse.” If you don’t stop them, they become part of your identity.
With all the negativity because of Covid, this book is a must read.

Reading this book, its concepts and applying them in my everyday life has helped me strengthen relationships and become a better manager. Having the ability to acknowledge one’s emotions and having a better understanding of “why” we feel the way we do, has helped me remain relaxed and level headed in my daily interactions. As a manager, I have to deal with different people and their wide-ranging emotions. Having a better understanding of our emotions has helped me better understand my teammates (their feelings) and how to better lead them.

Has Information Other Books Don't Have

I've read countless books like this and this is the only book I've come across that explains the science behind emotions and how they're formed. The author talks about dopamine and how we don't need to act each time our brain releases it. I like the advice in this book - it's simple yet valuable, and many people need to hear it. At first author showed what is emotion and the way - almost people deviation or known a little. Besides describe emotions that are included positive and negative, however, the most value delivery is how to deal and grow with appreciate actions.
Know insides, discover outsides and try to step out the confort zone.

I got this book on a whim, feeling sad with a victim mentality, this book will help you understand why you are feeling the things you are feeling, and explain them to you. It helps you understand you are not your feelings, and many other things that will BLOW YOUR MIND. This is truly one of the best books I’ve ever read! I highly recommended this book!! I read other books about emotional intelligence, self love, compassion but this one is my favorite so far. It goes straight to the point. It has so many activities to put in practice what you read. It changed my life and perspective about emotions. I am so grateful a found this book!

Absolutely love this book! I usually tend to read mystery stories more than anything. But my best friend recommended this book for me so I gave it a try. I’ve read other books that help with mental health and bettering yourself and none of them really stuck with me. But with this book, you really connect to it and the workbook activities that come with it keep you engaged too!! I think if you’re trying to better yourself in any way, give this book a chance! I don’t think you’ll regret it!

This book is different from ordinary self-help guides. It's wonderfully systematic and the author comes straight to the point. The tips and techniques are great and above all, they work. Thibaut Meurisse writes sensitive, never lecturing and everything is easy to understand. Highly recommended!

I liked the ways the author leads you to self conscious to think the many ways a person has to make time for personal improvements to have the necessary tools to equip your life.

It’s a great perspective when it comes to managing your emotions. My biggest take away was that emotions are temporary and they don’t define who you are We should be able to not feel bad about feeling a certain way but allow ourselves to indulge in our motions and become better persons because of it. At the end of the day I am not my emotions, I feel emotions. Highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to better themselves by managing their emotions a little bit better. Great read!

Of the other 6 in the Mastery series, this one is my favorite. It had the most tips that I needed to hear and implement. Plus its the only one with an audiobook version. Definitely worth picking up.

This book does a decent job of summarizing contemporary books on emotions covering items like procrastination, resentment, jealousy and even depression. It’s a quick read and refers to lots of other works but it’s a good starting point on what is possible. You can dig into a topic or reference if there’s something you like.

Master your emotions is a solid read of well put together insightful information that’s easy to read and very informative. Honestly it’s a book that once you begin it’s difficult to stop reading as every page brings another ah-ha moment. This is a very good read.

I really enjoyed this book! I bought this book back in June of 2020 and it’s just been chilling around but in January I finally started to read and it was well worth it. This book really help me see the world more half full and not half empty. The best thing I got out of this is that you are not your emotions! Really has helped me reprogram my mind and I highly recommend!!
