Bobby Bowden, just the name it self can send chill's down people spin's; he and his football team were feared for years--they were the best of the best. The name is unanimous across the board when it came to devotion and to people. God, guided coach all the way; but, he still had to make a choice to lead by example. From the early days at West Virginia, or the last year he beat Nebraska; he never swayed from his roots--the roots of a leader. Leadership is different than a leader--a leader is just that, one who is in charge and the buck stops there, leadership is the art of being a leader. It is the grace that comes with the role, it is the theme of being a officer and a gentleman. Coach inherited that, exemplified that and shared that message with his staff, fans, students, professors, and of course his players. For years Tallahassee was center stage in college football, but for years the program was in ruins prior to the hiring of coach Bowden--today under a new coach, his message and his values are still carried on--Florida State is the corner stone of what leadership can do to a program, business, church and community--anyone can be a leader, but to carry the message of leadership, that is a whole new ball game and coach did that.

The 3 books were delivered fast and the book is a great account of Bowden's leadership and legend from interviewing over 300 of his players, fellow coaches, friends, and more.

This book is a great read. Truly am a Bobby Bowden fan after reading the book. Good stories and good message for life in general, not just football.

Pat Williams has done a fine job capturing the essence of Bobby Bowden as a man, a husband, a father, a coach and a Christian. If you are looking for a good reference book with lots of examples on leadership - this is the one. I highly recommend it.
