This book gave me many lofty ideas and even more practical tips. Most of all, it gave me hope: Hope that I can actually get business from this thing I can access 24/7 for an investment of $0. I asked myself: How come I thought LinkedIN was just about resume-writing and job hunting?

I see that some reviewers said it was mostly general sales philosophy and out-of-date advice. If you’re already in sales, this may be a re-hash for you. For those of us who have no formal training in selling something (or ourselves!), the book is chock full of actionable tips specific to LinkedIN that are clearly not being used by most people on LinkedIN. You can easily see that most people on the platform haven’t used John’s book to create their profiles.

True, there are often more examples than most people would need. But I supposed too many is better than too few.

I am often irked by reviewers who expect a book to deliver something that it doesn’t promise. That’s the case here. There are criticisms of the book not talking about tools and metrics and so forth, and I agree that’s important. But that’s not what the author promised. Here’s what it says on the sales page:

I've studied a wide variety of materials on how to make the most of LinkedIn. I've even invested in several $1000+ training programs. The key thing this book does over and above most everything else I've studied is it gives you the big picture... and enough actionable details for each of the key LinkedIn functions to get you going. For me it filled in a ton of gaps that made the other materials I had make more sense and become more realizable.

If you want a quick overview, and get you started resource that will transform your use of LinkedIn, I highly recommend reading this book and taking advantage of the companion online tutorials. It'll not only get you started, but help you start seeing results.

It covers all the bases from setting up a client attracting profile, networking and engaging with your most ideal prospects, and publishing the most client attracting content.

I highly recommend reading this before you invest in other programs or resources. It'll help you make better decisions about which resources will truly support your goals.

This Opens Your Eyes to a Whole Different Perspective on LinkedIn as a Lead/Job Source

John Nemo really opens up your eyes about what LinkedIn really is all about and how, probably 98% of us, get it wrong. The title, although after reading the book is appropriate, anyone who has not read it would think it is a "get rich quick book" of some sort....it is rather a "get steady decent income (possibly rich) through steady actions/work and improvement on LinkedIn" book.

Many of the principles that are put forth in this book, also apply and/or are derived from consultative selling techniques to where you do not sell, you have a conversation that leads into a sale (or the sales happens on it's own). Or better yet, you chat/consult with and educate enough with LinkedIn's to where they make the purchase (be it a product or service of your's) on their own without having to be pitched/sold on it...the buyer comes to you ready to buy.

This book also helps to figure out what things in LinkedIn profiles that need changing/editing to be more effective at not only connecting with more LinkedIn's but also ultimately getting more out of those connections than just connections. It is ultimately about making meaningful connections that last, that can lead to jobs/work/pay of some sort.

Because 98% of us get it wrong with LinkedIn, by reading this book and applying the knowledge gained in this book, you become part of the 2% that finally get LinkedIn completely, to some extent becoming a "Master of LinkedIn".

LinkedIn isn't like any other social network--because there's a huge professional outreach/recruiting/sales component that's part of it. People are selling themselves and their skills--and they don't want to see as much of the comical social elements as they would experience in other media.

John's book is the benchmark for fully engaging the LinkedIn Community. I'm a coach helping military members make the transition out of the service into the civilian community.
