For college football fans, this is an easy book selection. But this book deserves a much broader audience. It’s more than football. It’s about believing in a bigger plan, refusing to let others define you and never giving up. Through replays from his life, Coach O gives a genuine look at the trials and tribulations of following a dream. The journey is not always glamorous or perfect. In fact, he shows it takes an enormous amount of hard work, discipline, dedication and commitment. Coach O highlights that no journey comes without heartbreak or disappointment. Remaining true to ourselves in and acknowledging our own strengths and weaknesses is part of the game plan. He gives us hope that we too can chase a dream and make it a reality. Coach O is sincere, relatable and inspirational.

The book has everything you need to know about Coach O, and he’s very open about his life. Talks about his past, his friendships with coaches like Lane Kiffin, and is open about his alcohol problem. Very incredible book and now I know why he loves Destin so much.

As an LSU alum, I thought I knew much of Coach O's story already: the guy who didn't end up sticking at LSU as a player, bounced around as a coach, failed at Ole Miss, got robbed at USC, and was hired at LSU more out of convenience than desire after losing out on Tom Herman.
Flip the Script filled in the gaps - I learned a ton about Coach O as a person: his struggles, failures, motivations, thought processes, and ultimately, his vision for coaching and leading a top college football program. Bruce Feldman is an excellent writer and was able to keep Coach O's authenticity intact while still organizing and formatting the story itself.
While the book is structured primarily into two halves (pre LSU and post LSU), I enjoyed the way Coach O was able to reflect on everything from the beginning of his playing days to the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Flip the Script is a worthy read for all football fans, especially those who recently got to know Coach O from ESPN or the soundbites and are interested to learn more about the man when the cameras aren't rolling. I will say as an LSU Tiger, the details about his leadership of the program and the 2019 season alone make it worth the read.
*As a note, I did receive one week early access to read Flip The Script from the publisher. I finished the book the day before release.

You don't have to be a big college football fan to read and learn from this book.
This is the journey of life and all the lessons that Coach Orgeron has learned throughout his life. The lessons that he shares are some that everybody can use to examine what they have done right and what they may need to tweak to be successful. Coach shows that even during setbacks there are things that can be learned from the setbacks and use to improve the way you handle things.
I highly recommend that you read this book. You won't regret it.

Coach O’s successes and failures that shaped him to win

I like to watch college football but I was not I have to watch it every week kind of person. I was immediately drawn in to Coach O ‘story. The behind the scenes of college football coaching and recruiting was very interesting. It is an inspiring story and there were a lot of lessons to take away; such as you can always start again, keep moving forward, believe in yourself and what you are capable of, never give up and many others. Coach O lets you in on the highs and lows of his career and how it developed him into a winning coach!

OK, my expectations were not high on this book but I found Coach Ogeron’s honesty and openness made this a book one which I can heartily recommend. He describes in often painful detail his rather rough time fighting alcoholism as well as his struggles on the way to obtaining a head coaching job. For LSU fans it is a joy as he recounts a number of players and how he worked with them. For a larger audience it is an excellent book on management, teamwork, and perseverance.

This is a quick and easy read. Some of it may be things you already know, but it’s refreshing hearing it from Coach O’s voice, his players and colleagues. It takes a big person to point out their mistakes and all that they’ve learned. I have a greater respect for him and what he has accomplished at LSU. He is relatable, vulnerable, and honest. I truly enjoyed his story and you will too. It’s all about hard work, grit, and growth.
Reading this book makes me want to watch all 2019 games on repeat!

I am a HUGE LSU and Coach O fan, so selecting this read was a no brainer. I respect him so much more after diving into his life and learning how he developed his coaching style. The 2019 LSU Tiger football team will live "rent free" in my thoughts for a long time. GEAUX TIGERS! 💜💛
