Welcome to another episode of Millionaire Secrets!
We’ve got something very special for you today!
As a fellow educator, Jordan Levy could be seen as my competition. But since we both have the same goal, I like to think of him as more of an ally!
Jordan has a unique take on things.
He likes to think about the big picture and he approaches his work from a philosophical point of view.
Have you ever traveled to somewhere remote and wondered, “Who was the first person that decided to come here?”
If so, then you will probably appreciate what Jordan has to say.
Building roads and paths to difficult-to-reach places is important work.
Thankfully, in today’s world, most of these roads and paths have been built. Someone in the past did the hard work so that we don’t have to.
According to Jordan Levy, education works the same way!
By building a “road to success”, you’re giving people access to something that they’ve never had access to before.
It’s our job as educators to build these roads and show people how to find them.
If you resonate with this then you’ll LOVE the rest of what Jordan has to say.
He’s been featured on Forbes 30 under 30 and is the founder and executive director of Cap Source, an educational and internship business.
Whilst he was still in college, he raised $2m in venture funding for his (now sold) business “Real Time Cases”.
Jordan is an entrepreneur through and through!
But he’s also a key player in the education sphere doing great and innovative work.

Answered ALL my questions and doubts
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2021
I was stuck and ready to go to a schister lawyer. I read this book and it answered all my questions and resolved all doubts and points of confusion.
IF you are a good writer AND you have a working understanding of legal concepts, THEN this book can help you write a more solid application than if you handed it off to someone that doesn't understand your inspiration or invention.
Otherwise, get a lawyer.

I learned a lot from this book. Patenting is not easy even after reading this but I definitely have a much better understanding of patents and other IP protections (copyrights, trademarks) after reading it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand patents, even if you still plan to use a patent law firm to handle your patent.
The only downside is that it's a really big book, so it's kind of a pain to lug around if you are like me and you like to read on the go (on airplanes, at the beach, etc.)

Outstanding and comprehensive book on patenting
Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2013
Pros:
- Detailed explanation of patent writing, how to write wide claims, what makes a good claim.
- Great insight on how the USPTO operates internally and how to maximize your chances the claims will hold.
- Very easy-to-read, even for someone who has no experience in law or writing patents. The author explains some legalese without boring you.
- Good discussion on licensing.
- Strong explanations for filing the patent, prosecuting the patent and maintaining the patent.
- The author makes a great effort to tackle on foreign filing and PCT despite it being very confusing and complicated.
Cons (all minor)
- There are a couple of sections that may be best left for the appendix, e.g. I saw several pages about how to fill an application form and attach a receipt, what address to send it to, what to click on the website, which were a little wordy.
- The images are almost impossible to see on the Kindle even with the max zoom since some of them are patent/license pages. Would be great if that got fixed.
- Some of the areas seem to be a little out of the layman's league - I can understanding writing the patent on your own, then prosecuting/responding to OAs on your own, but some of the scenarios that arise afterwards occasionally seem too complicated to tackle on yourself.
Overall I'd highly recommend this outstanding book and I am planning to use it to write my own patents.

I have been considering writing a patent and was just going to go to an attorney, but I'm glad I picked up this book first. This book does an amazing job of explaining what patents are (as well as trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets). It explains and gives advice on which structure to use (patents, trade secret, etc) based on the circumstances of the invention.
I feel confident after reading this that I have the tools to write a patent application.
One comment I have is that the patent laws have changed significantly in 2013 and I although I would like to know a little about the previous law, I wish that there was a book that focused on the new law.

This book points out what is CLEARLY an abuse of Federal Red Tape. Just a quick "thumb through" of the book would scare anyone away from taking the easier route and hiring a patent attorney. However, for the young entrepreneur who has a great idea for taking mankind to the next level but no money....this IS the answer. This book gives you step by step on how to prepare your patent application to sketching schematics or plans for your device or idea. It is everything you need....except the incredible amount of time it will take....which of course....is why patent attorneys cost so much money.

This is an extremely well written book with a lot of good examples and details. Unfortunately, i jumped the gun and pressed ahead with writing before doing my patent search for prior art. i assumed that because i'd seen nothing similar in the marketplace, there wouldn't be much to find in the patent search (obviously i'm an amateur). the patent search revealed some similar inventions and i had to change much of what i'd already written. I wasted a lot of time by not doing the tasks in the recommended sequence.

Everything you need to write & file a Patent.
Through and clear. I have previous editions, bought this one because of the changes in the law for 2013.
The book is great, I was not at all impressed with the Kindle version. Very difficult to find a specific section, could not print any pages.
When I purchased the 15th edition, I also received the Adobe version, easy to find your way, could print any page etc.
Whether you plan on using an attorney or file yourself... this is a must have tome!

I have used several editions of this excellent book and even bought the latest 16th edition. It is excellent for self-help, independent people like me because the author is very thorough in his overall treatment of patenting. I felt confident in not having to cross check what was said in the book because it updated so diligently(regularly). It was invaluable in filing my own patent recently (which I did electronically first time as advised by Pressman). If you are serious about patenting, especially doing it yourself, this book is indispensable and well worth every penny. I would strongly advise you read the book as thoroughly as you can.

I thought I knew all about patents what I needed to know, until I read this book.
A great book even for those that think they know it all. This is a very well written book and explains it all, and in a very clear language. It deserve 5* and more.
On a side note, filing a patent is a no different than signing any contract. If you know legal issues involved and understand its implications, then you sign yourself. But, if you don't understand the language in a contract then you seek proper legal help.

For the price of a few minutes of an attorney's time, I can have the entire resources of Mr. Pressman's great work at my disposal. That's a no-brainer purchase for me. My previous edition of Patent It Yourself, which was my bible several years ago, had long run its course and was virtually obsolete in the face of new changes in the patenting process. I was very pleased to see that Mr. Pressman had come out with a new edition.
