  • Five simple tips to speed up postproduction

  • How do you choose and implement the strategy for launch that is right for you

  • What is the reason that more than 50% of podcasts are handed up by six months later?

  • How do you format an email to get sponsors interested even if you've got an uninteresting audience

  • Innovative ways to begin attracting guests, and to become an authority character

  • The pre-guest ritual which guarantees the interview to flow freely

  • The most crucial voice technique can be employed to distinguish your show from others

All in one book to getting started

As a solo online entrepreneur, I was considering creating podcasts to attract more audience. I see a podcast similar to a blog (with the different medium used but mostly the same principles). However, I wanted to find essential differences between both forms.

The author provides many details; for example, the length and timing to keep it entertaining (shorter but more frequent is usually better).

The podcast script example is a great starting point, especially for me, who needs a structure and have difficulty to start.

The book goes beyond technical aspects and covers topics such as building and expanding your brand, long term success, brainstorming my vision and SMART goals before starting, and focuses o quality in every step.

Solid start for beginners looking to get into the world of podcasting

I don't know about you but podcast seemed to have exploded over the past decade and nothing seems to be slowing them down. That makes TODAY a great time to start if you've even remotely thought about starting your own.

This book won't bog you down with never-ending details about how to get your podcast up and running. Instead, this is more of a "just in time" training to give you the essentials to get started from what equipment to use, the purpose of your podcast, how it get it online and distributed, how to launch it so you actually have listeners from day one, and how to monetize it.

Could the author have provided even more details? Sure, but this is podcasting made simple. I'm an analysis paralysis type of person so too much details and steps stop me from even getting started. This book helped put everything in perspective so tell me what I need to do and to ignore the rest.

If you're looking to get started, this is a great start.

If you have any business or brand and you don’t have a podcast, you’re slacking.

Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2020

Many other books about podcasting tend to gloss over the steps to take PRIOR to launch and how to maximize a strong launch from ground zero. Many people will tell you that you can start a podcast without a pre-existing audience, but if you really want to give your podcast purpose, it’s important to every step just right.

This book also touches on finding your voice, your format and your audience, which is very important to niche down to get the ball rolling the right way.

A little more is focused on physical equipment, how to record, basic editing steps. If you want professional sound, you won’t find a lot of resources in this book, but there is definitely enough to get started.

Definitely recommended.

For anyone wondering what it takes to start a successful podcast channel, this book covers it all in a well-organized manner. The author's casual style sort of threw me at first, but I found it puts one at ease with the topic and

the author knows his business, inside and out, covering all the bases. There is a lot of personal experience being shared and the content is divided into several chapters that walk you through the podcasting process. As someone having a background in this area, I recommend it for anyone just getting started in this new media business.

This starts from the beginning, including a look at why, what, and how. It causes you to really delve into your podcasting idea or developing an idea. Know why you want to do it first. These sound like simple things, but if you just launch into it without any direction it’s a gamble and not a strategy. It talks about conversational podcasts and educational podcasts. From talking about equipment and editing to guests and audiences, this book has everything a new podcaster, or even a seasoned one, needs to have a successful podcast.

This book is great. It not only covers the technical stuff, but it really goes into the whole mindset of why you want to do a podcast, how to relate to your audience, how to develop your persona.... just all of the philosophical underpinnings that will help you create a great podcast.

THEN it gives you step by step guidance.

The author suggests reading it one chapter per day. If you can't help yourself and read further (it's written in a very engaging style) you'll want to go back a re-read it almost as a "to do" list later.

I highly recommend this book and trust you will get as much out of it as I did.

Every single thing you need to know about podcasting

Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020

This is one impressively comprehensive book! Perhaps as culture evolves, podcasting will transform and the information in this book will need updating. But right now it seems right at the cutting edge. It’s not only about the nuts and bolts—physically creating the sounds, even the selection of microphones, uploading it, etc.—but it’s about the spirit underlying successful podcasting. As with any other endeavor in life, Daniel Larson discusses how it all originates in passion, zest, love of the enterprise, of communication, of relationships, of broadcasting a self in love with something special in life. The book is also naturally about brand building, and developing streams of income from the podcasting venture. The Kindle version is beautifully designed, easy and enjoyable to read. Larson’s tone of voice is uplifting and full of a can-do spirit. Anyone interested in podcasting aught to read this book.

Daniel Larson's passion about podcasting shines through every page of his book. He recommends reading a chapter of his book each week in order to digest the information, and I think that is a good recommendation. I read the book in one sitting to get an overview, and it was quite intense. The great thing is now I can go back and read one chapter each week to get a deeper understanding of the podcasting process. He has dissected every single aspect of podcasting for the reader, and his message comes through to the very end of the book: in order to succeed in podcasting you MUST have a passion for your topic. He shows, through every page, that he clearly does.
